I love this so much. After ten years in my first queer relationship, when my ex moved out, I honestly worried she was taking my queer identity with her. It took me a while to realize it was mine all along. She helped me find it, but she didn't own itβ¦ thanks for being so vulnerably you π
Kathryn, I SO relate with, and love what you share here (and you as well). I was twice divorced in my 40s too, and DEFINITELY felt blah (on my good days), doubted I'd ever find love again, and was really annoyed when I saw other people loving each other. And, much like you, loving and dating myself was the key that helped me not only live again. But live more fully free and alive than I ever had before. I really appreciate you not only being so courageous and authentic in sharing what's going on inside of you. But also the way you're choosing kindness when it comes to refraining discussing your ex. I already knew you are a beautiful person from my experience of you through The Haus (and on Michael Franti's Soulshine at Sea cruise), and that just puts an exclamation on it. I'm loving and sending all the loving and healing energy to you!
When my marriage ended I was broken, followed by a couple of years exploring non-monogamy, followed by falling for one of those people and letting that go because it was not healthy, followed by a long distance thing and now followed byβ¦ me. People need different things at different times and who knows what is around any corner but you know what, if itβs no one other than myself (and animals and my glorious friends) thatβs around the corner, that is so enough. And on my own, Iβm no less queer than Iβve ever been. In fact, isnβt it the ultimate in queer to choose to go against the huge pressures that scream that you are incomplete if you are on your own romantically and sexually? I think so. My mental health has improved a thousand fold. My sex life with myself is just great, thank you. I love to be romantic with myself. And romantic in my platonic relationships because friendship romance is real! Suffice to say, I see you. You are a queer goddess. Full stop, thatβs it, boom.
I love this! I often find myself treating my friendships like relationships and that I need to treat myself with the same care. Yes, I'm in a straight passing relationship (though our community knows we practice a form of ENM), but all year I make sure to attend sapphic spaces. I make sure to help my community and that greatly helps with the "Am I queer enough" rhetoric. Pride may look differently this year for you, but that it doesn't change who you are and how you feel. Happy Pride, Kathryn. Though memories can often feel like ghosts with weapons, there is still a lot of magic to be found and you are the wielder of said magic.
I love this so much. Having taken yoga with you over the years in person and on Glo, let me assure you that you radiate rainbow beauty in 1,000 ways no matter your state of attachment. Thanks for your truth. Excited to see you here.
I will always double tap for you and fill your comments with color. ππβ₯οΈπ§‘ππ βwhat ifβ¦ our friends are our soul mates, and the people we date are just accessories.β ππ
Beautifully written and echos so many of my own thoughts. Decentering marriage and romance and embracing relationship anarchy and platonic love is a vibe I hope humanity is moving towards.
Thanks for sharing. I love reading your thoughts and musings, even if they are veiled. You alway appear, to my eyes, as a shiny, sparkling unicorn.π¦ Divorce is stressful and there is a grieving process. Youβre in that process. Take all the time you need.

This is so deeply relatable and I have a feeling so many queer folks feel this way.
